How do I know if my organization is qualified for funding from People’s United Community Foundation?

How do I apply?

All applications must be submitted via the People’s United Community Foundation Online Application portal. We do not accept applications or materials through the mail. Please use these links to access Online Application.

People’s United Community Foundation Grant Application

When can I apply?

People’s United Community Foundation accepts applications only during open grant cycle periods. There are three per year, March 1-31, July 1-31, and November 1-30.

What is the process after I submit an application?

Applicants should receive an email confirmation of receipt of the proposal. Once submitted, every request goes through an evaluation process by the staff and Board of Directors that generally spans 2-3 months. The process includes proposal review, analysis and team discussions. In some circumstances a site visit and further due diligence will be conducted.

How will I be notified of a decision?

All further status changes will be communicated by email and via status updates on the Online Application "Dashboard," which is visible upon logging in to an applicant’s account at

If I have received a grant, when can I reapply?

Grantee organizations must wait a minimum of 12 months from their last application submission before the Foundations will consider another request.

Declined organizations must wait at least 12 months from their last application submission before the Foundation will consider another request.

May I access the grant application outside of the open grant cycle?

Grant applications are only accessible during the open grant cycles. Refer to the sample questions for a preview of what you will find on the application.

How do I save an incomplete application so I may complete it at a later time?

Once in the application portal click “Save & Finish Later” which can be found at the bottom of the page.
An email will be sent from MicroEdge Services from the email address: mail@grantapplication.com with a link to access and resume your application, along with a copy of the contents of your application.

You can also access your saved application by logging in to your account at www.portal.blackbaudoutcomes.com.

I forgot the password I created when I began my application. How can I find it?

You will need to reset your password. Click here to go the sign-in page and request a new password.

Can I retrieve my partially completed application?

Not unless you clicked "Save & Finish Later" at some point during your session. The Foundation does not have access to your application until you submit the finalized version. To minimize the risk of losing your application, save your work often.
